Karachi violence: SC to resume suo moto hearing Monday
KARACHI: Supreme Court larger bench will resume hearing of the Karachi violence suo moto case tomorrow (Monday); Geo News reported.
The chief justice during the previous hearing had in his remarks said that safeguarding the human rights was the responsibility of the chief minister and added if he will not meet this responsibility, then the court will intervene.
In the previous two hearings at the SC Karachi Registry, Sindh IG, Wajid Durrani appeared and Abdul Hafeez Pirzada on behalf of the Sindh government argued the case.
Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry ordered Sindh IG to obtain the CD of Geo programme and after recording the statements of the four abducted and other 18 recovered persons, hunt for the accused. The bench ordered Sindh IG to submit report on target killing and extortion.
The larger bench also asked the Attorney General to submit report of the intelligence agencies.
On the other hand, Jamaat-e-Islami, Sindh Bachao Committee, Awami Tahreek, ANP, Karachi Bar Association and others also filed petitions for making them parties in the case.
ANP lawyer, Iftikhar Gilani will argue during the Monday hearing.
